Thames and Avon Branch of the Murray Club
Apprentice Boys of Derry
One of the Original four city gates, it was ornamented and widened in 1795. In 1866 the Gate was rebuilt and the keystones represent Rev. Governor George Walker and Rev. James Gordon both of whom were leading defenders in the 1689 Siege.
This was the Gate where the Apprentice Boys made their heroic stand against the army of King James.
